Head Coach – Ernie Cecchetto

Bio

I bring more than 15 years of youth hockey coaching experience to the Leitrim Hawks U18 Rep B program, along with a long-standing commitment to mentorship, leadership, and community service. A graduate of Fanshawe College’s Behavioural Science program, I originally planned to pursue a career as a child and youth worker before becoming an entrepreneur. That background continues to shape the way he coaches, with an emphasis on confidence, accountability, respect, and helping young athletes develop as players, teammates, and people.

Coaching Philosophy

I have coached across both boys’ and girls’ hockey, including multiple seasons with the NGHA, NMHA, and LMHA, with teams earning tournament gold medals, regular-season success, and provincial recognition. My coaching philosophy is built around fair ice time, balanced player involvement, development, and retention. I believe every player must feel valued, challenged, and part of the team’s success. Players will be given opportunities to contribute across all types of play, with the goal of building a positive, competitive environment where athletes continue to grow, enjoy the game, and want to keep playing.
