Initiation Program

Program Overview

The primary purpose of the Initiation Program (IP) is to provide players an opportunity to develop hockey skills in a fun and supportive environment.

The IP motto is Fun, Fitness, and Fair Play!

When will hockey start?

In September there will be an information night that will further outline the IP encourage attendance at this session so you get a good understanding of how IP works. By mid-September, the process will begin to place players in teams.

To facilitate this, there will be a couple of sessions to evaluate basic hockey skills.  Your convenors will be reaching out to you in late August to confirm information, so it will be important to please
respond to their emails promptly.

How much time will my player be on the ice?

The IP program is divided into three groups: IP4, IP5, and IP6.  The 4-year-olds will have practice once a week, IP5 and IP6 practice twice a week (occasionally it may be less due to ice availability).  The arena times will vary, but as a general rule, they will be morning times and always on the weekend.  The season runs until mid to late March.

Can I help?

We can’t run the IP program without parent volunteers.   Every family will be expected to contribute their time to the success of the team.

Are there any additional costs other than a registration?

In addition to registration fees, teams typically ask for a team fee up to a maximum of $100 to cover the costs of items such as fun days and team parties that enrich the hockey experience for everyone!

Program Fees are listed under the registration page.
