U7 Timbits Introduction to Hockey Program
The Leitrim Minor Hockey Association U7 Introduction Program is designed to give young players their first experience with hockey in a fun, supportive environment.
The program focuses on building basic skating skills, confidence, and a love for the game.

Program Structure
The U7 division is made up of three age-based groups:
- IP4 – 4-year-olds
- IP5 – 5-year-olds
- IP6 – 6-year-olds
Players are primarily grouped by age, with sessions designed to match their stage of development.
Getting Started
- Early September: Parent Information Night hosted by the U7 Convenor & Hockey Operations
- Mid-September: Invitations sent via TeamSnap for “rust-off” skates
- Players participate in light evaluation skates to help form balanced groups
Ice Time & Schedule
- IP4: 1 ice session per week - typically Saturdays
- IP5 & IP6: 2 ice sessions per week (may vary slightly based on ice availability), typically Saturday and Sunday weekly
Scheduling Notes:
- Sessions are typically held on weekend (mornings - early afternoon)
- Arena locations and exact times will vary week-to-week
Program Focus
- Learn basic skating and hockey fundamentals
- Build confidence and comfort on the ice
- Encourage teamwork and participation
- Keep the experience fun and positive
Family & Volunteer Involvement
Volunteers are essential to the success of the program.
- Families are expected to contribute in some capacity
- Opportunities may include helping on the ice, organizing events, or supporting team activities
Costs
- Team Fees: Up to $150 per player (in addition to registration)
- Used for:
- Team activities
- Fun days and events
- End-of-season celebrations
