New to Hockey? Welcome!

It’s never too late to start playing hockey.

Whether your player has never skated before or is just getting started, the Leitrim Minor Hockey Association provides a supportive, inclusive environment where players can learn and grow at their own pace.

No Experience? No Problem

  • Many players join each year with little or no skating experience
  • Our programs incorporate learn-to-skate fundamentals into practices
  • Players develop skating and hockey skills at the same time

All skill levels are welcome.
There is a place for every player who wants to play.

Before You Register

Confirm Your Home Association

Hockey Eastern Ontario provides an association look-up tool based on your home address to ensure you are registering with the correct organization.

New to LMHA

  • Registration is completed online via TeamSnap
  • Families are encouraged to register early (by August 1) to support team formation and scheduling

Important:

  • Double-check that browser auto-fill does not replace your player’s name with a parent’s name
  • Program details can be found on the Programs page
  • Information about new player info sessions will be shared later in the summer

New to Hockey (First-Time Players)

Players who are new to organized hockey must submit the following to the Registrar:

Required Documents

  • Proof of Age
    (Birth certificate, passport, or baptismal certificate)
  • Proof of Residency (2 documents)
    (e.g., government-issued ID or utility bill showing parent name and address)

Sensitive information may be redacted, except for name, age, and address.

Registration Timing

  • Early Bird registration (when applicable) typically ends July 31
  • Families are strongly encouraged to register as early as possible to assist with planning

Information Session

An online New Player Information Session will be held later in the summer.
Details will be shared with registered families.
