Head Coach – Ryan Moxness
Bio
I have been passionate about hockey for as long as I can remember, both as a player and now as a coach. After moving to Ottawa at age 12, I played two seasons of Rep B hockey, progressed to the AA level, and later played junior hockey in Ottawa. I have coached with the Leitrim Hawks since 2023, serving as an Assistant Coach for two seasons and as Head Coach of U9 A2 in 2025–26. I am excited to continue my coaching journey as Head Coach of the U10 Rep B team for the 2026–27 season.
Coaching Philosophy
My coaching philosophy is centred around developing skilled, confident, and accountable hockey players who understand the value of teamwork, effort, and respect. At the U10 Rep B level, development will remain the priority while players are introduced to the habits, structure, and expectations needed to succeed at the competitive level. Our team will focus on strong skating fundamentals, puck possession, puck support, defensive responsibility, communication, and compete habits. Practices will be designed to keep players engaged and moving, with an emphasis on game-like situations, small-area competition, decision-making, and learning to play together as a five-player unit. Building the right team culture is extremely important to me. Our players will be encouraged to compete hard, encourage one another, accept coaching, and conduct themselves with respect both on and off the ice. Most importantly, I want our players to look forward to coming to the rink, take pride in representing the Hawks, and finish the season having grown as both hockey players and teammates.
