Bio
Since a very young age hockey seemed to always be the number one priority in my family. Growing up in eastern Ontario I was fortunate to always be able to have an outdoor rink close to home, and it seemed like we never left. I played hockey at a competitive level as a kid / young adult and never stopped playing. I still play 1-2 days a week and love every minute of it. I have 3 kids in minor hockey and have been coaching for the past 10 years. I have also had the opportunity to have been an evaluator for the tryout process at the AA / rep A / rep B level over 10 times and cannot explain how much I learned about the game having done so.
Coaching Philosophy
I am a huge believer in life if you work extremely hard for something you can achieve your goals. My goal as the coach of this team is to teach them high work ethic, all out intensity, to earn every shift, and to leave that ice knowing that you gave it everything you had for this team. With hard work, determination, and positivity I believe the wins will follow. I want these kids to learn that it takes a team to win a championship and not just one or two players. They also need to know that it’s alright to make a mistake and that we will learn from it and get through it with the backing of our teammates / coaches because we are one!
From a hockey technical standpoint, my practices plan to start with skating, then some high tempo flow drills followed by a couple of different stations based on what type of development we need at that point of the year. One of my highest priorities to start the year is for these players to learn that it’s not scary to play body contact. Us as coaches will be teaching them how to hit, when to hit and most of all how to take a hit.
I am very grateful for this opportunity and promise to give it my all as their Coach!
Thank you
