Bio

Growing up, I played competitive hockey in Markham Ontario. I have two sons in competitive minor hockey, and I have been involved with coaching in some capacity or another on 16 teams both when I was younger and as a parent.

Coaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is straightforward – creating the environment where players can gain everything that the game has to offer. This means both advancing hockey skills to help players see success and help them prepare for where they might want to take the game – and also fostering broader lessons that the players can take from the game and apply for the rest of their lives.

Respect is the cornerstone of my philosophy. Players, coaches, and parents are expected to be respectful of the team (and everyone who participates in the team), respectful of opponents/officials, and to be respectful of themselves. By committing to these values, we develop not only skilled hockey players but also well-rounded individuals who will represent the LMHA positively.

I am committed to creating a positive learning environment with a “firm but fair” approach to create an atmosphere where players are accountable to the team, but feel safe to take risks and make mistakes in order to grow and gain confidence. Setting realistic yet challenging goals, both for the team, and for the players individually, and celebrating progress and achievements along the way. Each player is unique, and I try to understand their individual needs and motivations to help them reach their full potential. By fostering a team-first mentality, we can create a supportive and motivating atmosphere where everyone is committed to each other’s success.

I am excited and looking forward to a fun and rewarding season!
