Head Coach – Shawn Smail

Bio
 
From a young age, hockey has been always been a passion of mine.  I have played minor hockey, competitive minor hockey, junior hockey, and Division 3 hockey for Morrisville State College.  After I completed my post secondary education, I became the head coach of the club hockey team and an assistant coach of the varsity team at Canton University for five years.  I moved back to Canada and was an assistant coach for a Junior C team for two years. 
In 2023-2034, I decided to get involved again with coaching.  I was an assistant coach for the U9 house league A and the head coach for the U10 Rep B .  I am excited to take on the role as head coach of U11 Rep B for the 2025-2026 season. 
 
Hockey Philosophy
 
To create a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for players, coaches, and parents where a commitment is made to raise the players’ belief in themselves.  The focus of the team will not be on winning and losing. The focus will be on developing skills, developing knowledge of the game, and letting ever child know they are a valuable member of the team. 
 
At the beginning of the season, I will set and communicate expectations of the players, coaches, and parents.  I will strive to have open, honest, on-going communication throughout the season.
